Ravager Comes To Steam!

It's been a little over two years since the first version of Ravager was released. We have accomplished incredible things in that time: Ravager is now over half a million words long, with a thousand pictures, five hours of voice acting, and ten fully animated scenes. The team has grown from one person to a host, all working in concert. We stand on the threshold of our final Act, and we’re ready for the next big leap.

The only thing holding us back right now is resources. Our patrons are incredible - without you, we could not have got this far. But our budget is modest, and our plans for completing Ravager are grand: pregnancy arcs, full voice acting, illustrated fate scenes and tailored epilogues, just to name a few.

We will get there, but I don’t want to drag out development any further than I have to. Our days on this earth are precious, your support is invaluable, and when we’re finally done we will have more amazing games to make. So I think it’s time we took ourselves seriously.

That’s right, folks. Everyone’s favourite dragon adventure is coming to Steam. If you ever wanted to own a personal copy, now’s your chance. You can click this link right now and add it to your wishlist (please do!). We’ll be launching on Early Access as soon as our next major update has been completed, and all the necessary hurdles navigated.

This does not mean we’ll be abandoning or sidelining Patreon. Far from it! While our major updates will launch on Steam, patrons will continue to reap all the rewards they are used to: backer builds, art previews, content votes, Discord events, and much more. Our big backers will continue to be able to propose and vote on new scenes, all the way to the game’s completion. What is changing is that we are giving a whole new audience a chance to play Ravager, and support us through that final stage of development.

What Will You Do With Sales Revenue?

Currently, we’re only using a fraction of our available talent, because that’s all we can afford. We don’t know how successful the Steam launch will be - but If we do get a boost, we’ll use it to:

  • hire Irrelevant Art full-time (meaning lots more character art, costume changes, etc)
  • hire Amon Ra full-time (meaning lots more animated scenes and character idles)
  • hire a part-time sub-editor (meaning more scenes are ready for each update)
  • commission plenty of additional voice acting from our VAs

All of these provide a significant boost to our development speed, and together the effect is even more dramatic. It’s very exciting.

What Will Ravager Cost?

Ravager will cost $15 (or your local equivalent), and will be updated with all the content we produce for it. That feels fair to me, and is in line with other games in the genre.

Is This Game Really Suitable For Steam?

That’s a question that Steam alone can answer, but we’ve done our homework and we’re optimistic. There’s some good precedent in our favour, and in case of emergency we can always opt for a patching solution.

If you are concerned that your friends might not share your taste for artisanal draconic content, you can always hide it from your library (see this guide).

I Have Additional Questions Or Concerns!

I would like to answer them! Pop onto our Discord server (there’s a link in the game’s main menu) and share them with us - I’ll be fielding all questions.

This Sounds Like Great News, Can I Help?

Yes you can! If you go to our Steam page and wishlist the game, you’ll be alerted as soon as it becomes available - and you’ll also give a big boost to the algorithm, meaning more people will find the game.

More than that, your continued support (financial and otherwise) is especially valuable right now. This is the most volatile, nail-biting, thrilling time in the game’s development. But this community is the rock that we are built on, and it’s on the strength of that that we’ll see it through.

The steam link isn't working for me. Is there another steam link?

(+1)

just search ravager on steam

(+1)

its blocked in my country

Deleted 3 years ago

Sadly yes

(+2)

Tfw your german and therefor cannot buy adult games on steam.

(1 edit)

Here is another one of those games I wish that I could help with. To be a part of it's creation in more of a way than simply supporting it. Unfortunately wishing and doing are 2 very different things entirely. I simply lack the qualifications to do so.

        -  "Is it really the thought that counts?..."

(+2)

If you want to support the game, but don't have any money, you can:

- leave ratings and reviews
- wishlist us on Steam (it helps the algorithm)
- talk about the game, and recommend it to others
- join our Discord, and help make it a nice place to be

If you're bilingual, we are also looking for translators!

(+1)

Sadly I am not bilingual. I wish we all were and at the same time, I wish we didn't have to be... But I thoroughly appreciate the offer anyway. Thank you! Maybe someone who is, will see this post and like this game enough and be kind enough to help... Best wishes.

Looking for translators? If you want someone to translate the game to Brazilian Portuguese I'd be more than interested, I'm fully fluent in both languages so I think I could help there, if you need it! I'd be happy to help in any way, I quite like this game.

Yes, more translation help is always great! Come say hi on our Discord server :)

The game link shows me that it isn`t available in my area on Steam, what should I do to update my game that time?
Also, will I still be able to download the game here? You know, it`s really exciting. I`m so afraid I can`t get my game updated anytime. What should I do?

Backers will get updates via Patreon/SubscribeStar, and can also get a steam key, which is region-unlocked after a period of time. I'll also keep updating the copy here, up to the end of Act IV.

(+2)

The end of Act IV was so exciting! I nearly dropped from my bed when I reached the HEAR ME part! It is more than a game to me now. When I play this, it is more like reading a super great interactive novel! We are looking forward to the next update! Really, really hope I can find a way to get the Steam version when it's released. (By the way, really curious if Darja will really be able to breed dragonets (for me XD))

(+2)

With all due respect, I'm on this website so my steam friends do not see me playing this type of content. I do not plan to buy on steam but am happy to once this is fully released.

(+1)

That's why Invisible mode exists on your Friends list.

I have updated the post with a guide on how to (successfully) hide games on Steam from your friends. I'll also look into making it available on other platforms, like Itch!

does this mean that there will be no more updates via itch.io, or just that steam will be a way to get updates earlier?

(+1)

I'll continue to update the existing game here, but Act V will be exclusive to Steam and our Patron backers (as they're funding its creation). +

(-3)

That stings a bit... I have something I'd like to say that should be discussed between the team before that happens. It's worth mentioning and bringing up so I will say my piece:

This saddens me. I thought this game was also for the people locked away due to Covid... a lot of people lost there jobs due to businesses shutting down everywhere... Sab & Inej said at the very beginning...
look, my point is, people are still suffering right now one way or another. Economically even more so. I will be truly sad to see you go if that is the case. Not forever obviously, but I'd prefer to be able to at least play the whole game free until then. Until I have the money for it.  Even if put on a waiting list so the people who bought the game get it first/ early access.
I will find a way to buy this game eventually no matter what. It would just mean more to me when I finally do if it didn't get locked away behind a paywall. It's a nice gesture that the supporters are getting exclusive content but there are other ways of supporting a game too... At the very least maybe you could just make it a delayed release to the general public. But still eventually release the full game here. Generosity speaks volumes after all... "And don't get me wrong, you have been very generous as it is." This is much more than just a demo at this point. Which is what players expect to get a feel for the game before making the choice whether or not to buy it.

Yet at the same time what you've said about Act V makes me excited, glad & hopeful that the game will be indeed finished and get its much needed concluded ending soon. This simple comment is good news! I was just really hoping I'd get a chance to see it sooner rather than much later...
I myself hate to admit it but I'm in a very tight financial spot right now. It's bad. As bad as it gets without being homeless... I didn't even want to say it but I can't be the only one that is in this particular unfortunate situation...
Whatever the final decision, I just want you to know I remain to be grateful for the adult fantasy world that 4MinuiteWarning has brought to us. (Interesting name choice by the way...)

Anyway.
What about the people that have donated here or the patrons you've gained from here for being a free game that have com across it much like myself?. Haven't itch.io users helped fund its creation too by doing so?. Don't they deserve to see the game through as well, for all the other feedback and support as in sharing their thoughts & concerns about the game, spreading the word, helping find bugs/ crashes and bringing up the games popularity in general?. Surely there is more to supporting a game than just money... but if that is truly the case..., if more people were to donate to you here on itch would that be enough to persuade the teams mind to stay? This is where "I" personally discovered your game after all... I just, would like to see the full game released here as well. I've grown fond of this website. It's been, good to me. And so have you. I can't be the only one that sees this...

"Even if this game were to remain free to the public to the very end, I don't know how, but I still eventually want to buy it. You've all put great effort into the making of this game and it shows. I know I'm asking for more than I should, but hands down the more generous a game dev is the more likely people will buy it in the end. I'm sure of it. How could they not?

I have A STORY to tell if you will take a moment to read it:

I once attended a concert at a Celtic festival once where the musicians sang cover bard style music and shanties. They brought a small basket of Album CD's they made or so with them that weren't selling very well at all. It was a very small crowd when we arrived. Sadly, quite dead even. So dead that you could count the number of people there on just your hands. Its been that way for a couple of hours since they arrived and we heard them singing from across the fair. So when they asked if anyone had a song that they'd like to hear and got nothing but crickets back, they just sang another song at random. No one else joined the crowd. Eventually they would ask again. Still they got only silence every time they asked. So I stood up & spoke out loud and clear. I said "well, seeing as no one else has a song on their mind, I have one... Do you know 'Scarborough Fair'?" They replied "Why yes, thank you for asking." They then began to tell the story of the song before singing without missing a beat. Almost as if they were happy to finally receive a request.
When the song ended they asked again if anyone had any requests... no one did. Once again was the prolonged awkward silence. So I looked around, stood up and asked "Drunken Sailor?" as I shrugged. They laughed and said "I was quite the individual." I smiled back and just said "Just trying to liven up the party a bit & have a good time... besides isn't that what we're all here for?." "To live life, get away, have a good time, make good memories last and enjoy the moments that are?." They looked at each other and smiled then they started to sing. And liven up the party is exactly what happened. Even the crowd got more lively. Something was different. Something about the whole mood in the air had changed. Like a veil of darkness that had been lifted. It's something felt that can't really be explained... I remember thinking I wish I could join them as I was currently learning to play it on my acoustic guitar at home at the time. But I didn't want to ruin what had begun so I kept that thought to myself.
Anyway, at that moment they started throwing their own versions of what to do with the drunken sailor as the song went on. There wasn't a better place to be in the entire fair at that time. They have clearly sang it many times before. But this time was somehow different. They were, happy. Much more energetic than usual. There wasn't a song that day that picked up the mood so well. We were all starting to have a good time then and I was just there, soaking up the good vibes. The new music brought many more people than usual to come watch the free concert noticing the change of sound & pace. It was very uplifting. In between songs when I noticed a lot of people had gathered I then asked, on purpose mind you knowing full well the answer already more as a reminder, "Do you have a recording or album available?" They eagerly said "Why yes we do" as they then began to happily share the details and shuffle about for the merch to show off.

After the seventh or so song, someone finally requested a song other than me. Eventually the dead crowd grew to almost everyone at the festival (No joke). That is when I made myself scarce and disappeared into the depths of the crowd as to not interfere any further with what had been started. I knew what I had started. They weren't famous, or well known. Not even the greatest bard singers. But I knew what needed to be done in order for something extraordinary to happen. They deserved to be recognized. To be heard. They were alright. So... I gave them & those listening in, a friendly little nudge...
After the concert was over the band stopped us as we passed by them on the road. They were overjoyed when they said that all of their CD's sold out and that they saved one just for us. Even though they insisted we take it for free, we bought the very last one. They wished they had brought a lot more... They let us know that every day before then was just as dead as when we arrived. They thought it was going to stay that way. They were about to give up. They said that they have never seen or expected as many people, or sales as they got that day... They had the feeling that if I hadn't spoken up that the show wouldn't have even picked up. They couldn't believe it. They thanked me and shook my hand. I simply replied "No, thank you for the good times." as they did. Fully meaning what I said. As I always do. I left them with saying
"Don't loose that spirit." And with that, we all went home thoroughly satisfied that day. We all went home winners.
All this, because of a little suggestive timing & they were simply generous folks... The Album wasn't free, but the concert and the song requests were.
I'm sure there are many things here that we can all learn from.
This is a true story after all. Take from that what you will.

END                          - I hope you enjoyed what I had to share with you.

Well they say beggars can't be choosers but please think about what I've said. After all it must hold some sort of weight. Please weigh it carefully... Please carefully consider and discuss what I've said among the team. I'm pretty sure I said everything I meant to say... Please share your thoughts publicly afterwards on this topic as the game devs as a whole. Regardless of what the conclusion is, I will be here. Even if that sadly means waiting at the gates as so to speak.

- from a concerned fan "I'll be here."

LMAO

(1 edit) (+2)

This change was discussed extensively within the team, and then with our major backers, and we all agreed to move forward with it. I shared your post with the team and, after reading, we're still very confident in our decision.

Ravager is a passion project - I've sunk my savings and several years of my life into it - but it needs to have funding, or else it'll lurch to a halt. I hope you can find the same spirit that drove you to buy that band's album, and support a project that you care about.

(+1)(-1)

Happy to hear it. Thank you as always. Very understandable. So I take it itch.io is not a good source of income then... That sucks.
When I can, when I find a way, I will get it. I always was going to. No matter what. It's just, now is a really bad time for me personally. The bare essentials are a priority, badly... If you've ever been there, you know when I say then that it's not fun. At the time of that festival years ago, times were better. Much better... Enough about crying poverty though. I'm not looking for pity. Just opening eyes as so to say.

When I do get the game, I'll probably get it from Patreon though as I am more familiar with that site than Steam as strange as that is. Who knows.
I'm looking forward to the future. See you & the team there hopefully. I can't wait to see what future projects 4MinuiteWarning brings us. Maybe one day I'll even become one of your top tier supporters... maybe. For now though, the best I can do is friendly advice and feedback sadly.
Sorry & Thanks again for taking the time to read & reply. I hope the team gets everything that's coming to them that they deserve. I mean that in the best way possible of course.

"I swear if I was rich...."

Time to go full monkee and wishlist

I'd like to point out that hiding games on Steam this way does not make them private in any way. It's only essentially a categorization option that removes it from your library unless you specifically navigate to it - others can still see you playing it in various interfaces (chat, overlays, probably achievements and recent activity, etc.) unless you've taken extra steps to make ALL of your Steam profile and activity private regardless of any individual game.

Thanks for the heads up - I'll update the advice when I'm back at my desk!

Now done :)

congratulations to you. I'll be adding it to wish list for now, but plan one getting my hands on it ASAP =)

Will you sell steam keys through someone else? The game is region locked here in Germany. There seems to be a bit of fuck-up with bundles. I bought Dying Light this year. It's locked and most of its DLC, but, and that is what i think made it possible, some DLC aren't. So, i bought it with a "all DLC" bundle through one of those.

Yes! Once we enter Early Access, people who back us on Patreon at high level ($20+) will be issued Steam keys, and you can pick up a personal copy that way.

(+1)

Looking into it. The keys will still be region locked to install, but it seems Steam unlocks it after 90 days.
